US chain Wyndham hotels conducted a study and found that 54 per cent of children believe their parents check their phones “too often”.
Meanwhile, 32 per cent of the children asked said that they feel “unimportant” when their parents are distracted by screens.
So later this month, the hotel group will launch an initiative designed to give families a better holiday experience – by offering them a discount if they promise to keep their phones locked up.
Selected Wyndham Grand hotels across America (Clearwater Beach, Orlando Bonnet Creek, Chicago Riverfront, Hotel Galvez, and The Mills House) will give guests five per cent off their bills if they chose to take part in the “Reconnected” scheme.
