From the super-hotel that is The Ned to the capital’s cool little gems, like Ham Yard Hotel, London is awash with inspiring and design-savvy places to lay your head. You would be forgiven for thinking, therefore, that a new property from Novotel – part of the French Accor group – wouldn’t be anywhere near as exciting as some of the big-name openings flinging open their doors in town. You’d be wrong.
Rooms are getting smaller and sleeker, while common areas are growing in size and importance.
Players include new entrants, such as Yotel, and traditional hotel chains, such as Best Western and Hilton.
Competition and “Airbnb effect,” not cost, spurring hotel changes, say analysts.

Who says hotel companies can’t dabble in cruising, too?
In a hospitality industry crossover, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company is launching a luxury cruising yacht line scheduled to hit the water in the fourth quarter of 2019, the company announced Thursday. Ritz-Carlton will enter a crowded field of luxury cruise lines. In doing so, it follows a path similar to Disney when it founded Disney Cruise Line in 1996.
The Watergate’s announcement was short on details about what Room 214’s redesign will involve, other than saying it will have soft furnishings and in-room amenities and closet items that showcase the property’s significant history and underscore the guest room’s allure to so many global travelers.It did not say if Room 214 will have a higher nightly rate or how guests will be able to request it.

Especially if you have never worked in the hotel industry you will be faced with many unexpected situations and complications you might not have imagined. The international hotel business is highly competitive and achieving good financial results is not as easy as it seems.
This is a major understatement. I can not express strongly enough how this industry is so different what most people not employed in it think. Do your research first.
