If music was a regular job, would anyone do it?

Some may say this research is long overdue. How do the well-known pressures of the music industry affect the mental health of those employed in this cutthroat industry.

Long, late-night shifts; no security; low unpredictable pay; no holidays; and the constant pressure of performance. New research is looking at the harsh conditions of the music industry, and its impact on the mental health of its workforce

2003 – Clermont, FL Renaissance Faire Gallery

One day, while driving around exploring central Florida, my family came across a sign for a “Renaissance Faire” in Clermont, FL. We had never attended an event like this and decided “Why not”? My son had recently started playing the Mandolin and we thought this might be really interesting for him.

It turned out that it was a great event that the whole family enjoyed. I don’t know if this community still holds the event, I believe this was their first year, but I know the band we fell in love with there still travels and performs. Their name is “The Empty Hats” and you can learn more about them at their website: emptyhats.com Check them out!!

My photo gallery includes pictures of the lighthouse, the famous Fresnel Lenses and the grounds which include a wonderful little museum.

The jaded journalist in me sneers at the countless “cupid concierges” that pop up around Valentine’s Day, along with desperate-feeling marketing gimmicks that range from the campfire-based S’morrier to an Aura Architect to a Guacamologist. (Yep, those are all real.) Not all of them are […]

This might be of interest to those of you who earn your income from streaming services. According to this article your highest royalties are with the following:

Apple
Spotify
Google Play Music
YouTube

…at least for Record Labels. I don’t see how it may be different for independent artists.

Other services listed in the top ten include Deezer, Rhapsody, Xbox Music, Amazon, Tidal, and Telecom Italia. Read the full article at the link for the details.

Record labels are getting a better deal on streaming music royalties with Apple than major rival Spotify, according to a report, with Apple Music streaming rates claimed to be nearly double what is paid out by its main competition.
